    Buying an annealer.... should I?

I've been reloading for 30+ years and aim more and more for long range rifle accuracy. I've tried many of the methods and gadgets over the years, some work, some not so much. Where will an annealer fit into that list? The idea of consistent neck tension makes me warm and fuzzy. Lol Thanks Guys!

I bought one several years back. It works great and for the life of me I can't imagine needing a fancier one:

    Buying an annealer.... should I?

I bought the Annealeez. It works w/in its limitations. All annealers have limitations. The horizontal ones are the most adjustable but they come w/ a steep price tag.

Here is a short video of it in action: http://s198.photobucket.com/user/dra...F8A_1.mp4.html

This is what I used for years. But it doesn't provide uniform neck tension. And the process takes longer than one of the machines. It does work but the machines provide consistent results.

I have both the Annealeze machine and the one from Mike's reloading bench. I don't care for the Annealeze machine. Mikes is much better. The Annealeze machine's roller has that rubbery stuff on it's roller that is supposed to spin the case in the flame. Mine would not consistently spin the cases. They would spin intermittently and you would not get a consistent anneal. Mke's does not have that problem.

The orings seem to grip my cases better.

It depends on what you define long range as and what you and your equipment are capable of. For all my LR competition loads they get annealed every time.

    I use this one http://bench-source.com/id81.html

That's very neat. Have you done any head to head tests with ammo annealed on it versus a hand torch?

Same here ... I broke down and bought an Annealeeze last year and I love mine. It's done a ton of my brass so far and there is still a bunch to go. Makes a much faster and easier job of it. I bought all of the accessory wheels to do other calibres at the same time.
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!
