Here are some of my older reloading handbooks. I have missplaced the cover of the Lyman Cast Bullet manual and the Lyman manual on the right.

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.

The Hornady manual , with the fellow wearing a cowboy hat , looking through binoculars, top right , was Hornady's first manual , printed in 1967 and only contained data for rifle cartridges !
This was my first manual and I still have it.....it was one of the few back then that had data for the 7.5 Schmidt Rubin 1896/11 rifles that flooded the market. $29.95 got you a rifle at the Army Navy Surplus store. My first rifle, and I still have it also !

Those Speer Wildcat manuals are getting hard to find now. I passed several up in the past but the next one I find at a decent price is going home with me. james

I didn't know that Hornady manual was their first. That's one of the ones I bought new.
I saw the Hodgdon with the pressure barrel and the Speer with the guy and kid for sale at a local gunshow yesterday.

    Hi!
Do any of these reloading manuals show loading data for the German 9.3 X 72 Rimmed? This is not the more powerful 9.3 X 74R
    Thanks!

What are these old manuals going for? I have some doubles and triples of various ones I may part with or trade off.

I think these older manuals are a great resource to have, I am constantly using them to cross reference load data from newer manuals, there are a lot of differences in some of the data, I think the newer manuals are no where near the max limits on a good portion of the loads they list. I think lawyers have edited reloading manuals for at least the last 20 years

Sorta like first editions in literature or authors' semi-lost first books, the first manuals by a given company tend to bring relatively fat prices.
The first purpose of the Second Amendment is too often overlooked, fostering a liberty of mind and action necessary in the people of a free republic.

I have that oldest Hornady manual; autographed by JW Hornady, which I always thought was pretty cool. I regret not keeping my fathers' Speer #7 (?), as my more-modern Speer (#11 IIRC) manual had eliminated many good loads that were in the older manuals.

I also have a pretty wild PO Ackley manual from about the same time. Some of those loadings look pretty crazy to me these days - including 'how did he fit /that much/ powder in the case' ???
