I haven't tried to make the cartridge holders but have built a number of cheek risers. I have put retaining loops around the butt. Another thing that works pretty good is to put a piece of tool drawer liner under the leather. This stuff keeps tools from sliding around in the drawers but leaves no sticky residue. It is available from Lowe's and Sears in their tool depts.Originally Posted by Buckshot Bill
If you lace them tight (gutted paracord works best for me) they don't move around much, especially if you can capture one of the lacings behind a swivel stud they are rock solid.

They look awesome.
This one I did to soften the kick of a steel butt plate. The stitching on the base was nice and even at first, but moved around a bit in use.
I am impressed by the loops. Those things are HARD to get even like that! You did good work.

I always thought it would be cool to try leather working. Seen a suitcase full of various leather working tools at the flea market awhile back. I think he wanted 30$ i still kick myself for not buying it.
Great work, Bill! I've done enough to know I'm a real duffer at it. Have a friend in TX who's really talented. I'm very envious of both of your talents! I suspect the Good Lord doesn't count that time against us here, that we spend enrapt in craftsmanship like that?
