Went to a small-town gun show last weekend.

Small gun show in my town this past weekend.
Not a ton of tables, but I had a good time. Chatted with the sellers, laughed with the FFA girls running the food stand. Bought a cuppa for a fellow vet and passed some time with him.

Came home with a box of 44 Special cartridges. Showed 'em to Mrs Bookworm, she said " Don't you reload for that caliber ?"

    I said "Honey, I don't even OWN a 44 Spl."

    She just grinned at me.

I think she's on to me.....

Is that a pistol I see in my crystal ball?

    Looks like a 44 Mag!

Now you need to search for 44 Mag brass!

Don't worry Bookworm, we blame the BM when we do something we're not supposed to.

Well, the big Wannenmacher show in Tulsa is just a couple weeks away.

I had already told Mrs Bookworm that I planned to go on the 2nd. Perhaps she thinks I'm up to something.

But really, I haven't any plans, other than to go and wander around. One never knows what one may see there....

Things just follow me home from such events. My wife no longer even asks. She expects it to happen and often it's something she enjoys too.

odd that ruger just come out with their gp-100 in 44 special.

at least most of you guy's wives slow you down.
when I went looking at 44 specials I wanted the ruger flat top.
the dealer just happened to have a blued one, a stainless one, and the bisley.
I wanted a blued one but really liked the Bisley, and I could see where a stainless gun would come in handy.
after like 4-5 minutes of me looking them all over she was like 'we will take all three of them'.
    woah...
hey now,,, who is paying for all this?

BrassMagnet can see the future, and has foreknowledge of some events. There's a word for that.

    He's psychotic.

Hope your wrong about this stuff! Few weeks back was buying used Dillon stuff for 45 colt. The guy asked need any 45Colt brass? The only answer has to be " what kind, how many and much? Oh 500 hundred or so. Well I bought it got home and started to go thru the box. Two bag just looked strange. Look closer and one has 44mag headstamps and the other is 44spl. My brother was saying that he was getting short on 44mag so made him happy. But now I ha this bag of Spl brass and nobody shoot one. Just seems strange!

Funny how that stuff works. I think I'm up over 2500 44 spl/mag and don't even own one. I have moulds, bullets, brass and no stinking gun to run it in. Really thinking about a Henry big boy but I like 45 colt more.

I really miss traveling the state with my buds going to small gun shows. They have a different feel than the big shows...

Small town gun shows must have a lot in common with "small shows in big towns". About 25 years ago SWMBO and I sere in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis - St. Paul) area for around 6 months. During that time I learned about and attended quite a few "local" shows. In this discussion "local" means there were a limited number of tables, and the show was being sponsored by a local group or organization, as opposed to the backing of a large or regional source. Wow, lots of neat finds. At one of these shows I asked one parts vendor if he had any magazines for an H&R "General" (22 rifle similar to the 45 Reising). He answered "No, I don't, buy ask "Bob" at the corner table" and pointed to that table. Sure enough Bob had 2 of them and I bought both for a friend. Found many wonderful items in the twin cities, still have them. Wish I had a month to go back just for the shows and gun shops.
