    going rates for pure lead?

Hopefully this is the right forum for this ? If not, apologies.

I have about a 150# pile of pure lead pipe that I am going to liquidate. Wondering what a fair rate for it is these days.

Was storing it to add to my range scrap mix in case I needed it, but the range scrap I melted down from cleaning the berms last year ended up being almost exactly the hardness I was looking for anyway. With close to a full ton of it, I won't be needing any, anytime soon. Might as well send it on to someone that needs it.

I will probably melt them into ingots at some point just for the sake of saving space. they're pretty big chunks of pipe. But I highly doubt I'll get a muzzle loader. I like them, think they're a neat item. But no interest in shooting them personally.

Pure is running at about $1.00 +/- a pound. Have seen it advertised at $1.50 a pound and it just sat there.Robert

I pay $0.70 a lb from the scrap yard. He's paying $0.35 a lb. That's what lead scrap is going for locally.

Don't let these guys low ball you. $1 a pound plus shipping is probably about right for trying to sell soft lead on this site. You can do better on eBay but you'll be giving back 10% to eBay and 4% to their sister company Paypal so price it accordingly. If you think you have 150lbs you're only talking about potentially $150. I think it'd be worth to just keep it and enjoy it sometime down the road.

For reference a seller here just sold 240lbs of soft pipe lead melted and cleaned in 4 lots for $1.23/lb shipped and had no trouble quickly getting it sold.
