    New oddball 22

Just bought a Winchester m490, 22Lr rifle. Not a rare rifle, but kinda lesser known and scarce. Rifle was built to be a look alike of Wins, m100 auto loading center fire
hunting rifle. I have never shot one. The walnut stock and blue steel was the draw
    for me. Attachment 190414

I've never heard of that one, but it sure is pretty.

Nice rifle. Is it made on the same receiver as the center fire?

The 490 was made in Canada I believe. Years ago I had one with a 2 digit serial number. I think Cooey had a hand in making them.

If this shortcut works its to a close up image of a factory cutaway of the M490.

I remember gazing fondly at them in the Win catalog.

For some reason I always thought these were a fancy version of the Models 190 and 290, but that is not the case. I wouldn't mind having one, but the prices of .22's (both guns and ammo) have gotten outrageous in the last few years.
