Rusty cast iron

A "ruffer" surface makes ingots release better from the mold.....My thrift store cast iron pan.

Shooter6, that muffin pan looks like an old one. Does it have a name on it?

Take it to a monument company and let them sandblast it. There usually a nominal charge, and it takes a very short time. Usually the wait is when they have some markers to engrave. When I worked at one we did it on a weekly basis.

I have done this at a "sand shop" that reworked parts of tanks and other mil-spec vehicle stuff. Left them with open door time - he called when done: you know right sand at the right time boss not around maybe --- $10 and several muffin pans, a couple casting ladles and two dutch ovens with covers were "in the white".

Or put it in a good sized wood fire upside down, let the lead melt and run out.

I've used both the vinegar and muriatic acid bath versions. the muriatic certainly does want items to rust quickly after you take items out of it. I was spraying items down with WD40 afterwards with only ok results.

I used a bottle of Coca-Cola and a stainless steel scrub pad on a pan . It seemed to work just fine for getting rid of rust .

Lead .... I don't know .

WD-40 = Worthless Dribble x40. No real lube qualifies period. Use cooking oil!
