Ruger Precision ready for the range.

I bought a RPR last year. Other guns have got in the way of this one. I replaced the barrel a with a Bartlein blank 26" bbl by Patriot Valley Arms (picked up from gunsmith last night). Hoping the extra length helps a little at longe ranges. I was torn between a 18" or 26".
18 would have been better for cast but in the end i choose the 26". It needs a longer forend now. Looking at the Midwest 18".

Rainning so no trip to the range today.Click image for larger version.

Suggest 175 Sierra MKs, Berger 178 VLDs or Hornaday 178 ELDs over 45 gr Varget in W-W cases sparked by a WLR. Should prove awesome out to 1200 - 1400 yards.

I hope the 1/10 works out. I was thinking 180-185gr. Still doing a lot of reading

What Larry said, or RL15. If the gun does not like varget, it usually will like RL15

Here is the load for 175gr Sierra MatchKings. This is the actual loading of the 175gr that the USA military uses for their Sniper rifles.

Larry has given you great advice I use this load at 1000 and it does great from a 28" bolt gun. Also try benchmark it has worked great in my rifle

I picked up some 178 grain ELD match bullets but don't have any Varget, RL15, or 4064. I do have BLC2, CFE223, and Benchmark.
Using the data from the Hodgdon load data site, I figured out a couple of loads that should give roughly the same velocities as the loads mentioned.
I am going to try them in my Savage 10FCP-SR the next time I go to the range when it is a bit warmer.
Last time I was out, I was getting 1 inch groups at 200 yards with BLC2 and 168 grain matchkings.
