    Zippo Fluid?

    Hey guys,

I quit smoking 11 years ago and have had a full can of Zippo lighter fluid setting around since.

Got to thinking... Isn't that just naphtha?

If so, can i use it to thin Lee Liquid Alox?

    Thank you.

    Josh

Yes, I have used it for that purpose. If you lube rifle cases it is also good for removing that lube with an old towel with some fluid poured in it.

The makers of jewel target triggers recommend using Zippo lighter fluid to clean there triggers,
that's what I use mine for.

My shooting bag ALWAYS has a can of Zippo or Ronsonol lighter fluid in it. The last step in putting a firearm in safe for storage ("tied" with again ascertaining it is unloaded!) is to run a gun-oil saturated patch through its barrel a few times. AND, the FIRST thing I do when I get to the range is to run a couple of lighter-fluid saturated patches through said barrel.
The oil, before storage, prevents rusting; the lighter fluid removes the oil to provide a clear barrel for the boolit.

Lighter fluid is naphtha. Also known as VMP Naphtha. Not quite the same as charcoal fluid but close.
Charcoal fluid is varsol (dry cleaning fluid) by another monicer.
Lighter fluid evaporates faster than charcoal fluid, with less residue left behind.
    Information not shared. is wasted.
