    Svarog slug mold reviews

So my Russian slug mold came in and needless to say, I am very impressed! I ordered the segmented slug mold that should make a great hunting and self defense round as well as the Lyman pellet style sabot.

I actually think it's better than the Lyman mold. It's cheaper and you can buy different size center pins to change the weight of the slug. I bought the pin that gives the slug its lightest weight at 438 grs while the other pin throws a 512 gr slug.

The segmented slug comes in at 528 grs.

The Lyman style sabots fall out of the mold with ease while the segmented slug will not release without a silicone releasing agent. I'll pick some up tomorrow at Wal-Mart.

Overall, I am very happy and recommend these molds.

Here's some specs on it. As far as published load data, I don't have any. Powders I'll try will be 4756, blue dot, proreach, steel and Longshot.

Do a search for this in eBay. They have a website, but it's all in Russian.

I’ve been shooting the “match/Diablo/air rifle pellet looking one” out of both a CVA smooth bore double .410 muzzleloader and a Turner Kirkland .40 muzzleloader rifle. Been using 40 gr. Black MZ (volume measure). Pretty accurate in the rifle and so so in the little shotgun. Am going to try them out in a little Hatfield .410 auto loader I picked up today. Not enough time or good weather happening when there is time right now but soon!

I’ve gotten the Rooskie version of the Lyman sabot for the 10 gauge , 16 gauge and 28 gauge . I know it’ll never happen but I’d really like to see them make an 8 gauge version of the Lyman sabot slug.

I see the 16 but not the 10 or 28. Did they stop making them maybe?

I bought the 16 first maybe close to five years ago and the 10 after that . The 28 was purchased I wanna say in the last 18-24 months as I had the 28 load worked out and carried it out a couple times during the 2019/2020 season .

FWIW , I’d thought it would be nice if NOE made four cavity molds for all the gauges I load . As I have an NOE four for the 12 . But I came to the realization that in any of the gauges I rarely shoot more than 20-30 slugs per gauge in a year and that’s if I’ve come up with something I wanna see at the range . So I’ve kinda gotten okay with the single cavity Rooskie molds and the Lyman singke for the 20 . Was kinda the same thing with 0000 and 00000 buckshot , I use a pair of Lee double cavity jobs for both and had thought about ordering six cavity Lee molds from Track of the Wolf for both sizes . But reality set in , the amount of those two sizes I shoot each year doesn’t warrent the $60 each for the two molds . Matter of fact I already have twenty pounds of both sizes cast and rolled ready to load , I may never live long enough to shoot it all up LOL’s !

If I’m not mistaken I got all three off Ebay . But the 16 was first and I asked about a 10 gauge which they told me they didn’t make at that time . Few months later it appeared on Ebay . The 28 gauge I believe I saw before I got the 10 gauge but I didn’t want a 28 until I got my little Parker 28 . Now it seems to me there were two groups of rooskies citting molds one was Savorage or whatever their name and the other was AW or AG or something. I’m not sure which brand of there is a difference that I bought . I went looking for them to see what’s printed on the boxes but wasn’t able to find them quickly and it’s cold in my shop walking around in boxers snd a t shirt . So I’ll look again another time . But they are out there somewhere .

The 28 , https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASM-Sabot-S...YAAOSwa5RgC1Kd . Didn’t see the 10 gauge mold . I did however see they’re making one for the 32 gauge . For some reason the 32 gauge has been an intrest lately . Fausti is making a decent O/U for the 32 and a Rizzinni dealer in Houston or Dallas stocks both SxS and O/U 32 gauge guns .
