    44 mag Henry.

What is the average going price on the 44 mag Henry? I have two Rossi lever guns 45 Colt and 357 mag. and really like them both. I am only thinking about the 44 Henry because of the twist rate. Has there been any problems with the brass frames in the heavier calibers?

The Henry has a 1in38 twist. Rossi has a 1in30.

they use a hardened brass .. reported to be as strong as steel
in the last few years I have sold several 45-70's in brass 2 of which I know are shot regularly with hornady factory FTX ammo .. quite hot and they are still going strong

The Rossi will stabilize a heavier boolit. I have both and shoot the Rossi more often cause the Henry is too pretty.

Perhaps my learning skills have diminished in my senior years.. 50 years ago I could read something once and then "have it"... Now I read it about three times, do it a couple of times and then... "have it" only about half the time.

Why would you want the slower twist rate?

I was thinking some one said the the Henry had a 1 in 20 twist, if the 1 in 38 is the case I will go for the Rossi. In the two I have I shoot 200 gr. and up to 260 gr. In the 45 and in the 357 I shoot 105 gr. and up to 160 gr. and both rifles shoot great with boolits mentioned.

The specs on my .357 Henry says 1 in 38 also but my bore brush does one full rotation before I get to the end of the 20 inch barrel. I didn't measure it but it must be 1 in 16 or so.
