Using clothes drier to dry brass?

Anyone ever come up with a contraption to use a standard clothes drier to tumble dry their brass after wet tumble cleaning?

I threw 5,000 22lr jackets in a flannel pillow case and it worked well but it beat it up a little with the long hard drops, a little noisy too, but it did work well to dry the brass and only took like 5 minutes.

I was thinking some sort of set up with a simple screen type enclosure with the brass again in a protective pillow case. Then some sort of wood braces to position everything in the center of the drier basin.

I'm sure I have probably seen a similar set up already on the net somewhere but anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

One of the shoe driers that stays stationary in the dryer should work. Place the brass in a container that allows airflow and you should be good to go.

I did it once with 12 ga AA hulls I had washed. Put 500 or so in a heavy flannel pillow case. all was going well until the knotted pillow case opened up. What a racked.

frankfort arsenal makes a heated brass dryer that works great!

i put 5 trays of 9mm in it...(that's about 4000 pieces) dripping wet ...they were dry in 2 hours.

none beat up either ...and quiet.

Throw a couple of fleece blankets in with the brass, it will make it less noisy.
    " CANCER SUCKS" I swage .224, 6mm, 7mm, .308, 9mm, .40, .429. Also 9 to 30 jackets, and 9 to 9 jackets.

I just put my brass in the oven at a little over 100 degrees, about the same as putting them in the sun.

One time the wife sent a penny (probably from the pocket of one of my jeans) through the washer and dryer. It came loose in the dryer and shorted out the electric element. 2 hours of tearing the dryer apart and replacing the $40 element makes me check my pockets before putting anything in the dirty laundry.

Wet brass here goes in a pan under the woodstove in the winter, or out on the picnic table in the sun in better weather.

I could build a "better" one but at the price it is not worth the effort.

My wife has a tray attachment for her dryer-- it sits between the door opening and the center-- so it stays level while the dryer rotates. I dry all my brass in her dryer. 45 minutes on high heat. The shelf is open mesh to let air flow through, and I lay the brass on a towel.

I use an electric heat gun to dry brass. Have a deep fat fried basket, put brass in basket heat for a few minutes and all dry.

I'd be covering my privates if I tried using the wife's dryer to dry my brass. Just thinking if some are contemplating doing this it might be wise to send the wife to the grocery store first.

I picked up a used food dehydrator at a yard sale for a couple of bucks and use that. About a hour in it and everything is stone dry. I did put a piece of fine hardware cloth on the trays so the 22 casing wouldn't fall though, but that was the only extra expense.

Add some rubbing alcohol to your wet tumbler. The azotrope will flash off faster than water alone.

Fastest way is corn cob media. The trick is to not put it in when its too wet.....unlike other things. Like Soundguy said 90% iso is a great mixer for wet tumbling. Be prepared to invest in a lot of fresh air.

They call it "common sense". Why is it so uncommon?

A dehydrator works fast. I don't make jerky anymore so i put it to good use.
Mine has 5 tiers and I can get a LOT of brass in one load.

Harbor Freight, I got one for $19.00 with my 20% of coupon. It has five rakes and takes about 1 hour to dry I have had over 500 rounds of 223 brass in it.
