    LEE'S new 6 cavity molds

Good evening, I bought a new style 358-158-RN 6 cavity during a "Black Friday" markdown sale. I cast up a bunch to get it settled in, when I first bought it. I loaded and shot them in 38's and 357's. They turned in a decent group from a revolver and a Rossi "Mares Leg". But an outstanding group with a H&R rifle, a ragged hole at 40 yards. Today I was casting up a bunch of 32 S&W wadcutters and decided I would get the Lee 158 hot and cast a few more with it. I didn't measure or weigh the boolits the first time, so that was part of the goal with today's session. I know from past experience to turn up the lead temperature, then took the mold off the hot plate and filled it with a big fat sprue puddle. The first 4 fills were poor boolits then the good ones started falling out. I kept back 6 in order from the mold to measure and weigh. Click image for larger version.

ID:	188136 Compared to some of the older 6 cavity molds this one is really consistent. The diameters are the same and the total difference in weigh is 7/10 of a grain.....just amazing quality! And 10lbs of nice shiny boolits in no time

I happen to love that .358 158 gr round nose. I have seen some incredible accuracy out of my .357 mag handi rifle with it. I load mine up in .360DW brass, couple tenths longer = bullet is seated right next to the rifling, but not yet engaged.

I did recently pick up a .358 124 gr also, need to test that soon in the .357 mag also.

To me the Lee 6 cavity's are a class by themselves. I find better quality, easier casting than the cheaper double cavity molds. More attention to detail.

I have slowly been switching all my favorites over to 6 cavity.

I've been well pleased with Lee 6 cavity molds. I bought one a couple of months ago, 358-158 swc gc and it made nice looking bullets except they were dropping at .370 iirc. Sent it back and the replacement drops .359 from each cavity.

    I've bought 2 Lee molds in 10 years. A 2 cav 358 - 158 rnfp ten years ago, and a month ago a 6cav 358 - 125 rnfp.
Both were full of dags and burrs, both were out of round, both ended up in a metal recycle bin within a week. I'll stick to quality manufacturers in future.

I've had good luck with the six cavity pistol molds. The two cavity molds not so much.

I know there's a lot of controversy around Lee's TL356-124-2R boolit when used in 9mm Luger, but I've had great results with it. Very happy with the quality of the mold for the price point. It is very obvious that the Lee is a more cheaply made mold when I hold it up next to my NOE mold (and the NOE mold is a lot more fun to cast with), but the Lee gets the job done at a great price point.

I use that 124r in 38 and 9mm. Don't have the six banger or handles yet. I really like the two holers.
