I like the idea of a 32 H&R Mag necked down to .257 or better yet 6.5mm

The necked down 32 is only a dies set and reamer away. Dave Manson will grind you the reamer to your specs. The dies set will take some custom work also, but in reality a 32 H&R mag die set could be converted to use neck bushings easy enough. same with the seater dies. Once these are on hand cases can be formed and the firearm built. Its a fun process and can be rewarding. Built up on a small action would make a nice walking gun for varmints. A martini cadet action with a 20" barrel is a sweet little rifle, that carries easily. Or a TC Contender with the barrel stubbed to make it could be interesting.

I just ordered a 22 mag, because on Florida public lands no center fire rifles during small game season.

Some other states have this prohibition as well, still can't understand the logic of it. Just another stupid law!

Yup, TN disallows center fire small game calibers. That keeps my 22 Hornet, 218 Bee and 25/20 assortment relegated to varmint and tin can control duties. Dangit...

I would guess they don't want people shooting squirrels out of the top of trees with a 223 or a 30-06 and hitting people on the rides at Disney.

A Possible "reverse conversion" Idea for those live in such restricting States:
Make up a Rim Fire Converted .22 Hornet, or other Cartridge, and use Adapters made from drilled out cases to take .22 Rimfire "Acorn blanks" to ignite light charges of propellant or even use Powder Actuated Tool Loads without added propellant to hunt 'tree rats' or similar small game.

    I ran a 32 H&R Mag and a 32 S&W long through a 6.5x55 die just for fun.

How about taking the 9mm magnum that, I believe is a modified 556 brass.
