    Unique in 40 S&W

The other thread about Titegroup got me thinking about this, and I didn't want to hijack.

I've always used Unique in 9mm, and Titegroup in 40 S&W, but never the other way around.

Curious if any of y'all use Unique in 40, how you like it, and how it compares to other powders you've used in 40 (particularly TG).

I'm plenty happy with how TG has performed in the baby 10, I just happen to have a lot more Unique these days than TG.

    I like it .
5.7 under the Lee 401-175 SWC or the LBT 403-175 RNFP in an XD goes about 950 . I don't think it's any cleaner or dirtier than Winchester white box brass donor ammo .

In the 9mm it is a little dirty and more so with light bullets than heavy .

In both cases it's 99% dry wipe away soot so it isn't a big deal .
I shoot it in everything from 380 to 12ga so maybe I'm not a good reference .

I don't use it in 40 S&W but I do use it in light 10MM loads with 180 grain lead bullets. I've had good luck right at the minimum load which basically starts out where 40 S&W maxes out.

I've used it with the Lee 401-175 and some plated bullets without any issues.

I use 5.1gr. unique with the Lyman 401638 175gr. swc. So far my most accurate SW40 load.

it's almost the perfect burn rate for the 40.
now that I said that, I used titegroup in the batch of 40's I loaded for the S.I.L.

Thanks, y'all. Pretty sure the Lee 401-175 will be the mold I'll use. What charge are you using?

My XD likes the max 5.7 . I did have to go with straight WW and water drop , they tumbled without.

Unique is a great powder for 40, especially with lead bullets. Some of my most accurate 40 loads are put up with Unique.
