I can't speak to a wide range of loadings using Titegroup, but I'm just starting into my 4th 8 pounder of Titegroup in .45acp. The first three were in the 90's and early 2000's, (I shot through 24 lb of HPC-18 surplus in the interim). I was surprised that after 15 years the charge weight and velocity are still virtually identical and still very consistent.
4.8 grains TG behind a H&G #68 @ 1.50 OAL in my 5" 1911 makes major at an Av Vel of 840fps with no individual shot vel ever falling below 820. This was more important in my past when I often traveled out of town for matches where they regularly chronigraphed our loads to make sure we really were shooting "major". It is also a reliable "sweet spot" in my gun landing 10 yard double taps in the A zone more times than not. I have a magnetic LED light that shines directly into the case at the boolit seating station and I would have no trouble seeing a double charge if one ever made it past the powder check die.
It may not be the perfect powder, but it works very well at a reasonable price.

Question regarding "position sensitivity" with Titegroup:

Would adding a small card atop the powder, using a material such as cardboard or thin(but somewhat firm) felt, to help maintain the powder in a relatively "set" position within the case?
I can't see how a very thin(like a single layer of manila file folder thin) wad would add any undue pressure to the powder, especially on lighter loads where there might be dead space within a case such as 38Spl or 357Mag.
But as a reloading newbie, this might be an easy question to answer for more experienced shooters, but it came to mind so thought I'd ask

I can't really answer the question about using a small card wad as I've never done anything like that. But it would sure defeat my whole reason for using Titegroup in the first place; inexpensive, easy metering for loading several hundred rounds at a time on a progressive press.

Titegroup is not position sensitive. It likes air space. IMO it would be foolish to put any kind of card or wad on top of it.

I like titegroup for overall range fodder. I prefer it for light projectiles and/or short barrel firearms. Where I have been kicked in the teeth by it is with cast 9mm. For some reason I have had poor luck with it and have sworn it off in 9mm cast. I personally believe its just too fast of a burn rate and too sharp of a pressure curve for my particular cast use in 9mm. I really like it for what I call my "tactical 12ga loads", 9 pellet 00 buck. Its perfect for light to moderate loads in short shotgun barrels. Recoil is manageable, velocity is acceptable and flash is nonexistent.

Started with titegroup, read about the same woes and worries, tried different pistol powders, and ultimately went back to titegroup being my all around pistol powder. Only bad thing I can say about it is it sticks on everything including itself (clumps overtime, shaking the jug well before pouring fixes this), but interestingly, meters just fine.

My only concern with TiteGroup is running out of it.
