    310 Die Bullet Seating Screw

I have just "collected" my first Ideal 310 Tool in 30-06, and it came with a No. 329 Bullet Seating Screw designed for a Jacketed bullet. Well, it doesn't fit any of the old jacketed bullets that I have stacked on top of my reloading bench, but it does happen to fit my RCBS 30-180-SP lead projectile. My question is, is there any way to figure out what Bullet Seating Screws will fit the various lead projectile molds that I have for other makes besides Lyman/Ideal? I discovered in my research that the numbers on the Lyman/Ideal bullet seating screw refer to the last three digits of their bullet casting mold numbers. Do all of you just compare the pictures of Lyman molds with the molds that you have from other manufacturers and buy a bullet seating screw with that number to see if it will fit?

That would be what I would do. Never seen a cross reference to other makers bullets .

So, I need to buy a new Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook? I didn't know they had a newer one than the Third edition I bought just a few years ago. Well, maybe it was 20 years ago. Or longer? I went and looked at the date in the book. I guess maybe I do need a new one. Are they up to a version five yet?

I am actually trying to figure out what bullet seating screw for the 310 dies might fit the Sierra #2275, 175 grain HPBT MatchKing bullet with its really pointed hollow point nose.

FWIW, you can make a custom seater screw by starting with a case with the boolit of choice installed and coated with wax, grease, or anything that epoxy will not adhere to. Put a dab of thick epoxy on the end of the seater screw after you have degreased it and reinstall. .Slowly raise the ram and cartridge until it touches bottom, then allow epoxy to harden. Voila, you have a seater screw that fits the boolit correctly. GW
