I have the 458 SOCOM and do not regret getting it. I have several molds for the caliber and am still making up my mind which is best. They all soot well.
This country has gone to hell but now there is hope for us.

Tromix built both my Socom and Beowulf. Have a Bushmaster and a 50ae upper too. Like them all, but the 450 is at the bottom mainly because it is such a short barrel, feels like a toy to me. That said, it is the most accurate of all of them. The Beowulf is a hoot to shoot and gets alot of attention at the range. I shoot both jacketed and cast thru them all.

If someone made a barrel for these cartridges for $200 I would probably have a .50 B. Best,Thomas.

The upper is slightly modified also. The ejection port is enlarged but doesn't look like a big project.

I have the Beowulf and wouldn't trade it for either the .450 or .458.

I originally wanted a SOCOM but stumbled on a good deal for a Beowulf. Several friends have a Beowulf and they all love it. The Beowulf is slightly more powerful especially if you want to shoot heavier bullets. It is pretty much a wash between it and the SOCOM under 350gr.

I use standard magazines with no problems. Actual chronographe loads in a 16" Carbine are a 335gr at 1800, a 375 gr Barnes XPB at 1750, 450gr Cast at 1550, and a 500gr jacketed at 1450.

i have found loading data more availabe for the Beowulf than the SOCOM as well.
