Randy's powder

did anyone else get any of Randy's powder?

I got his grey in the mail today and had to finish up the slick sides I have sitting here, it worked out great.

the pictures Walter put up before didn't do the powder justice.
the grey color comes out a very, very nice grey Iron looking color with a bit of gloss to it.
I started mixing it with some of the harbor freight red [@2-1] to make a nice shiny slightly lighter than a Dr. Pepper can colored purple coating.

BTW they come out of the oven HOT!
and a little sticky before they cool down.
I couldn't help myself ouch.

anyway I wanted to give his powder a shout out and see if anyone else took him up on the offer?

I took him up on it and it is now my favorite powder!!!
I have HF red and it's o.k.
Smokes purple and black they go on pretty thick but cover very well

This stuff sticks well flows wonderful!
I shake em for about 30 sec pour out on parchment paper and bake!
So far flawless results and the color is perfect for me.
I actually quit using the bb's too just powder, bullets and shake with better results in the end.

I ordered a pound of Randy's powder a couple of weeks ago. I am not fond of wild colors, so of course I love this "smoke" and the bullets shoot great. So I just got back to him and ordered up enough to last me for my lifetime.

I also don't use the bb's. I warm the bullets a bit and then shake for 30 to 60 seconds depending on the bullet -- my small bullets like 22's and 25's seem to take more shaking to get coated than my larger bullets.

With the powders I use, adhesion isn't an issue, but I still use the BB's for a more even coating.

I have coated at least 2k rounds with this powder so far and it is bar none the best powder I have ever used!!!

It coats super easy with no bb's and flows when cooked like beer at a college frat party.

My order arrived yesterday and I plan to PC some cast 12ga slugs this weekend.

I have been using it and it adds about 2 - 2.5 thou. The thing I really like is it does not get clumpy on the bullets. It is a very smooth even coating.

Some powders I have used go on very clumpy the whole bullet covers but the coating is too thick 4-5 thou.

Try randys if a couple thou is enough you will like the powder!!

Mine all look sprayed and I tumble them in a yogurt container.

Received two pounds earlier this week. First try was so humid out you could taste the air. Still gave decent coverage. This stuff is like baby powder. Very fine. But even with decent coverage, after baking had a really nice color and good coverage. Mine added just under 2 thou. Made sizing a breeze.

Got 2 lbs a week ago and it works better than any powder I have used. I shake and dump without bb. They don't stick to each other and no marks from the wire mesh baskets I use. Going to order more to put on the shelf, this stuff is amazing.

I do have White and light Silver that I am going to have tested for use on bullets

I coated some Boolits today and the paint flows out better than any powder paint I've used to date. It passed the smash test with absolutely no paint flaking off or bare lead exposed. Next I sized the Boolits and they went through the sizing die so easily almost as if the paint had graphite in it? It will be a couple days before I can shoot these but everything sure looks promising so far.

P.S. I tried coating these warm but was a disaster. I must have got the Boolits to warm as everything just melted and clumped together in a glob. So I just dry tmbled without Bbs and it coated fine. I dumped the bullets into mesh pans. After 7 minutes in the oven, I shook the pan and baked an additional 20 minutes. When I took the pan out I shook it again and hardly any bullets stuck together.

I tried mixing a bit of Smoke's red paint with the gray but the Boolits didn't coat well and they stuck together in the mesh pan so I went back to using just the dark silver paint.
