February 2017, Contest topic: Black Powder Paper Patching ...and W,P,H

    February 2017
Black Powder Paper Patching ...and Wheelguns, Pistols and Handcannons

New contest format. New rules. See link for rules.

I am using the individual forum titles as the monthly topics (going from the top down), starting with Black Powder Paper Patching, but since that isn't one of the most common forums, I'm going to include the last forum, Wheelguns, Pistols and Handcannons, which is very common, so we can kick off this first contest with lots of activity.

In regards to shooting safety.Until you are ready to fire, keep your booger hook off the bang switch.

I love the lighting "highlights" on the barrel...it makes the bluing look super high gloss and almost black.

FYI, to all casual viewers, I have changed the rules...and am allowing comments in this thread, intermixed with the submissions. So let's here some conversation.

My Colt 1911 .45 ACP Pistol, year 1916. Photo with grandpa as a Cadet Army Aviator in 1917 (Postcards from Kelly Field that he wrote on the back)
Cavalry Holster is Rock Island 1913. Spitfire compass (WW2, hey I had to have something that didn't belong in that WW1 era!) USMC belt and original .45 ACP ammo in a clip stamped 11 11 FA (Nov 1911, from Frankford Arsenal) All sitting on a leather WW2 Pilots Album.

Big mak's picture is an great example on how to make a photo tell a story by bringing in relevant props.
    Great work!

Well, not many props here but this old Ruger in .32 mag. has been with me on my trapline for thirty years now. It's like a dear old friend.

A gift from Dad. His Series 70 National Match purchased new in 1973 for $126.23. Extensively smoothed and modified over the years. Was use by him every year to qualify when .45 ACP was our Military's choice. What you see in the picture is my holy grail - factory manual, box, warranty card, oil paper and pistol as delivered from the factory (with a little wear).

I would like to say I like the changes of the photo contest. I really don't care if its a contest or not but I like looking at the photos and at some point would like to participate. Yes I would like to see a couple of pages of paper patched boolits but since they are not here I still enjoy looking at the backup subject. Keep this forum topic alive, if its not working wright or wrong make changes again. Thanks for every ones time and effort in the photo page.
