Granted I only own 357Magnum but I use W231\HP38 for light loads, HS6 for mid loads and A#9/H110 for full loads. I dont own 44 magnum but I'm surprised that I dont see more votes for HS6. I started using it recently in my FNX45 , Ruger GP100 MC and I still want to try it in my 9s. Softer recoil I think then HP38/W231 as it burns tad slower. I think I'm going to stock it from now on so i always have some on hand.

When I get the locking bolt issue fixed on my Marlin 1894S, I'll go with IMR 4227 or H4227, but for now I use IMR 4198 or H4198.

Been loading W296 in my full power .44 Mags since the mid 1980's and see no need to change.

I've had great luck with 16 to 18 grains of Blue Dot under a 240 LSWGC. 296/H110, 2400 and IMR4227 also work great as others have posted.

2400 is great, but I like 12 grains of Unique under a Hornady 240 grain JHP. 1200 fps on the chronograph, and about as much as I want to shoot anymore.

I have tried all the powders you have listed . I fall back on 4227 mostly . I give up a little velocity but have always had great accuracy . Some mention the " hot barrel thing vs the cool barrel " . I have never experienced it . Maybe I'm just not a good enough shooter to notice the difference . I have found great favor with Accurate #9 . In the " other " poll I would list Accurate 4100 / Ramshot Enforcer ( both the same ) . Those last 3 mentioned meter well , accurate and clean shooting . Regards, Paul

I been using 2400, unique, bluedot, herco etc though. Ill get some h110 next if I want load some loads

2400...for both the Keith load with RCBS Keith bullet and for my Lee gas checked 310-gr boolit.

Got H110 and W296, but I save them for .454 Casull and .480 Ruger.

I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 7 1/2" barrel, and I tried H110 and H4227 in it and could not get it to group at all with 240 gr. swc's.

Someone recommended I try Alliant's 2400 powder. I settled on 19.5 gr. with a Federal large pistol magnum primer and I was able to drop all the shots into a paper plate at 100 yards from the bench. That made me happy.

Then later on, I found I could get similar results from using Unique powder and use much less. I can't remember the charge weight off the top of my head. That made for a very economical range load.
