Thanks to Tom at Accurate Molds for the great mold, George At Tree Bone Carving for the wood and my wife for the pictures.

The boolit was a water quenched 165gr WFN at 1800 FPS and it left a 1inch plus wound channel through out. The deer ran less than 30 yards.

I did all the metal work and fit and finished the stock.

Excellent! But I heard 357 won't kill deer!

    Thanks to all.

The hunt was really just a walk that got lucky. I spooked her and she bolted but inexplicably stopped and turned around and walked into a small opening created by a blown down tree. She was about 30 yards off and traveled about thirty yards at the shot.

The load is an Accurate Mold #36-165MG at 1800 fps muzzle velocity. The boolits are water dropped COWW's with 2% tin and are non expanding, but it left a permanent wound channel of a little over an inch. I am very pleased with its performance and feeds well in my rifle.

The rifle was a used Rossi 92 with a 20" octagon barrel. I cut the barrel to 17" crowned it, repositioned the magazine plug screw, replaced the front sight with a Marbles fiber optic, fluted the barrel (just for fun and I thought it would be unique), did an action job based on Steve Young's video and parkerized the whole thing. The wood came from Tree Bone Carving. The but stock was semi inletted but the forend comes as a piece of lumber with a whole drilled for the magazine tube. I made the sling. The front swivel is from an 03/A3 and the rear is off a French Berthier (over a hundred years old).

That is one of neatest looking Rossi 92s I have seen. Onliest fluted octagon barrel that I recall seeing and I like it!. What peep is it wearing?

Were your boolits water quenched pure lead? I have shot quite a few deer with my GP100 with relatively soft BH12 158 grain lead bullets with a gas check.

I have a relatively new Rossi 92 in 357. It's the 16 inch barreled one with the big loop. I want to take it pig hunting this summer. Do you mind sharing your load data? Send it in a PM iffen you don't want to broad cast it and I understand if you don't.

    Thanks Rod
