Loaded some up. 30 grs of 4756 then I'll move on from there with Blue Dot hS6, steel, Longshot, and 800x.

Man those look good! Keep us posted on how they do!

    Smoothbore or rifled?

I have a smooth bore and mine hates the LEE slugs and the Lymann Sabot slug. But will shoot a 5" group at 100 yds to 5" at 150 yds with factory Win foster 12 ga.

I even had hits on steel at 300 yds 3 out of 5 once I found the drop

These plumbata-style slugs should do good out of both smooth and rifled. I've worked up some Lee loads that both shotguns like.

Funny, one of my smoothbores shoots 8" at 50 yards with Winchester fosters, while shooting 2" with Remington fosters. Crazy.

My gun it the exact opposite! LOL!

Winchesters are a larger diameter than the Remingtons. If I remember right the Rem were the smallest I had measured then the Federals. But how soft they are, I am pretty sure they all will bump up.

Now lets see some targets shot with these!

I've as yet to get the same level of accuracy as factory slug loads with any home made slug loads in smoothbore. My bet is that they pay a lot of attention to wad column.

I think wad column is the weak point in home loaded slugs. I know I have had trouble with wad column for sure. Its one of the main reasons I like loading into shotcups with nitro card wads under the slug for support.

Hi! I bought the sveroboy h.p. mold. I tried to cast some between some buckshot i needed and one thing i noticed is you need to cast them fairly hot. Another thing i tried was the silicone spray lube. It kept sticking to the plug. Any trick? How Do you load Them?
    Thanks

I'd like to try some with an fs-12 gas seal and hard card. Maybe with hs-6 or longshot but i can't find where to start.

These are a plumbata-style slug so they'll need a base attached to them for flight stability.

I use the WD-40'silicone spray. You spray the pin ONLY and not the whole mold. I respray every 20 slug or so and I haven't had a problem.

    Thanks.
I just spray the pin (plug??) already.. bad translation.
You need to attache all if the column? Only the slug with the hard card would'nt work?

Why the cork shim between the slug and the wad?

It's a spacer, or filler material. It helps the overall height of the innards raise up a bit to help meet the crimp in a reasonable area.

Yes, I understand about the use of spacers to correct for overall load height, but using a roll crimp I would expect that you wouldn't need that thin spacer. Maybe the component height was still too low, even for a roll crimp? As a second thought (after I wrote the question above), using the BW12 wads, the base of the cast slug is ever so slightly larger than the small recess @ the wad gas seal (wads are double ended, no top or bottom) so the thin card takes up the space and keeps the slug "square" to the wad?

The real purpose of the cork wad is used to replace the BP 20 wads it calls for.

These are a plumbata-styled slug with the plastic wad actually screwed into the slug.

It acts as a drag stabilizer to help stabilize the slug in flight.

I've been perusing the website you got these from for awhile now . The pair of round ball molds have me quite intrested . And I'm contemplating the slugs for possible use in my 10 gauge smoothbores hopefully inside the REM SP-10 wad of course . How do you find the quality of the molds themselves ?

The molds have the easiest slug drop I'd ever seen. Great quality. I have 4 more that should be here any day now.
