Alright guys, so I've been trying to figure out this piece of Babbitt I have been using to hold down a milk crate full of lead and how it might've useful to my casting and it hasn't quite seemed to hit me, so I figured it would be about time to ask you guys exactly what this is and what can I use it for? It says prize ribbon Babbitt the marine supreme for greatest efficiency. Made by some metal corp in Detroit
From what Google tells me, you have an excellent score there.......55% Tin,. 35% Lead,. 10%. Antimony Great for alloying with your regular lead ww's, etc to improve fill-out, hardness, etc. Wish I had some!
Looks like i gave you the wrong ratio.......on further investigation it's 85% Tin, 10% Antimony, 5% Copper. Even better! I located it here:

So it's basically like pewter? Add a few ozs in with my pot when I'm casting?
