Someone suggest an RPM. I am sort of assuming faster with no interrupters inside would build static faster. I think I have a 35 rpm geared motor in the shop, but suspect faster would be better to reduce coating time. Any consensus on this?

I am intrigued by this idea, but sort of think like Walter too. The #5 container works well most times. I do suspect a smooth, clean PVC interior could generate much static though to help combat higher humidity days.

And what of pipe thickness. I have felt the static build up on PVC pipe over the years. Just not sure if schedule 40 or SDR 35 would transmit the static better to the powder.

I'd go S40. I'd also try 35 rpm. I have a feeling that would be plenty.

you can't be swirling by hand much quicker than that.
I wonder if a rabbit fur on the outside would help?

I am thinking my wife's cat, 200 9mm bullets, ASBB's, Gloss Purple PC, 6 " PVC pipe with end caps, and the cloths dryer in the laundry room. Anyone see a problem with that plan? I can always use more bullets if it would help.

I think it would work better with the cat on the outside. Rubbing on the PVC as it turned. Now the dryer might work but I think you would need 2 cats, and maybe 2 PVC containers to keep good contact for building up static.

Possibly sort of a belly band suspension to hold the cat between two rolling PVC tumblers. Going to have to come up with some explanation for wife when the cat yowls each time static throws a spark. Other than that, looking for downsides....
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

Kind of hard to claim to love America while one is hating half the Americans that disagree with you. One nation indivisible requires work.

SMK the only problem I see is if the end cap comes off one of the drums.

so the powder went right to the static.
but didn't transfer any to the boolits?
    did you try the cat?

Our cat is nutty as a squirrel turd,I don't touch it!! It will bite, scratch, claw, and hiss like a mad man.If it can hide in our bedroom, when we go to bed it will climb on the headboard and jump down on the wife's head.Of course she get's mad and I hear the cat hissing and growling as she cusses and throws it into the hallway. She wanted it,I didn't.

If you make it mad,it doesn't forget and gets even. One day I sprayed it with a water bottle, made it mad.Hondo,my dog was asleep in the living room, cat went straight to him and smacked him across the face.He didn't have a clue...what did I do look on his face.Sometimes if it's mad,it will beat up the wife's toy stuffed cow.(I don't know, don't ask). You'll hear it screaming and growling all through the house.Sound's like a Barred Owl marking his territory.

You will need to make 2 wraps of duct tape around the cats mid section before putting in the pipe. Talk about scratching/clawing and static creation

I mentioned to the wife last night that the discussion was using a cat, stuffing it in the pipe with the powder and bullets. She looked at me,slowly shook her head. Not really knowing if I was serious or not.

I'll coat some boolits tomorrow using PVC. I just use a piece of pipe and a couple of end caps. Nothing magic about it.
