    Need opinions TC Venture Predator

    Hi

i have an opportunity to get a new unfired TC Venture predator in 22-250 with the TC scope for $370

seems like a pretty good deal from the what I have seen for online prices

I don't own a rifle in this caliber, but I have several hundred pcs of brass

What does anyone think about the rifle and the deal?

Price seems ok, but the 1-12 twist stinks. You will pretty much be stuck with 55 grain and lower boolit choices. I love the 22-250 Rem, a lot of case to be lost shooting light boolits.

If you are going to shoot CB's in it, that rifle is an excellent buy with that 1/12 twist. My 6 month old Venture with 1/12 in 223 shot well under MOA right out of the box with a horrible scope and 52 gr JHP bullets and is currently shooting slightly over MOA groups (with a couple at 3/4 MOA) with 55 gr CB's at 2200 fps but I am still developing a load.

I have the same rifle and it shoots Hornady 60 gr. V-max just fine. Don't think you need to worry about the "slow" twist until you get around 65 gr.

I have one, very well built rifle. Honestly, in a 224 bore diameter anything more than 60 grains is for penetration or long range target work. Neither one appeals to me.

I like my 22-250 to do exactly what it was originally designed for, put 50-55 grain bullets into varmints from a couple hundred yards away. My TC Venture does that very well.
