Bullseye in the 358 Win ?

Anyone have some loads using Bullseye in a 358 Win bolt action with a 200 gr cast bullet?

In the slightly smaller 35 rem I use 5-6 gr. With the 358315 I bet the the standard plinker loading of 6-7 of any of the fast pistol powders would do fine .

Check the Lyman book but I imagine RUshooter is correct. I haven't tried it but I will. Should be great for small game& practice shooting. Best, Thomas.

it would prob be safe (the load of 13 gr of Red Dot is for the 308 ) but pressures are up there pretty good . I'd which to a little slower powder like unique in the 10-11 gr range before I'd use BE at that level,are these loads for plain base or GC bullets ? Another accurate load I like for my 35 bolt action is 12 gr of 2400 with a saeco 200 gr plain base

These are for a Gas check bullet, was gifted a lb of Bullseye so would like to use it. if possible.

I wouldn't go straight to 10grs 200 is a little heavy for the fast powders.
8 or maybe even 9 I would be more comfortable with.

the 13gr red-dot load is more suited to normal weights like 150-180grs in the x51-x61 case sizes.
but it's pushing 45-K in pressure with low velocity's.
bumping the start [boolit resistance] weight will peak the pressures a bit more.
pounding a boolit with pressure quickly generally leads to poor results on paper, and ain't none too good on the rifle either.

I think you might could get to 10 or even a bit higher but I wouldn't start there.

In the .35/.30-30 with Accurate 36-245D I use 8 grains as a subsonic plinker and 9 grains as the top load suitable for a soft, plainbased bullet. I have found 245D as the heaviest bullet which is accurate and well stabilized at subsonic velocity from a 16" twist barrel. In a 12" twist barrel you can go up to 300 grains with 36-201D.

In the .35 Whelen a plainbased 245-260-grain bullet will stand 10 grains of Bullseye without leading, but above this you need a GC. I would not exceed 13 grains of Bullseye in the .35 Whelen even with a gascheck. The 13 grain charge is what I use with a #375449 in the .375 H&H without a GC and that is about 1250-1300 fps, depending upon barrel length.

In a .358 Winchester I would split the difference between my .35/.30-30 loads and the Whelen. 9 grains of Bullseye in the .358 Win. with a plainbased 245-260 grain bullet should be good. Above that you you might expect leading without a GC. I would not exceed 13 grains even with a GC, as you are getting to where Bullseye gets "peaky".

Thanks guys, I will stay around the 7 to 8 gr and no more then that. I am only looking to punch paper anyway. about what fps do you think I might get, from a 25 inch barrel?

Accurate 36-245D is mine, but I can't credit for the 302D.

BUT I sure do like the looks of it. If anybody on this forum was the fellow who can take credit for it, then Bravo Zulu!

Forgive the thread drift, but if you liked the 36-302D, check out the gas check version: 36-302DG. A great shooting bullet in the .358 Winchester.

Too dark to shoot but I test fired 6.6(.7cc) of Bullseye under the RCBS 200grGC. I did not use hearing protection and it didn't ring my ears. It did make me grin. I'll group the other nine rounds @40 yds ASAP. Best, Thomas.

TX by God, my Browning BLR seems to like any bullet over IMR3031. A 200gr RCBS shot so well with 39gr 3031, it put three shots into a group with overlapping holes. My old eyes won't ever do it again, but measuring the elongated hole and subtracting .358 = .07" center-to-center at 100 yards.

Wow Norske. Frame that one. I've been too busy dang it. I have 40 loaded with 37 grs 3031 to try. I have high hopes.
