Are you asking for a thickness in .000"s?

I sure hope they're larger than .308". And what is the diameter of the gas check shank?

It depends on the shank diameter. I'm using .015 copper. You need to do the math. The shank diameter plus twice the thickness of the copper you want to use must be a couple or several thousandth's greater than the bore you're trying to fire them from. So, a typical shank diameter for a .308 GC style bullet might be .284. So, .284+.010+.010 comes out to .304. Way too thin when you're looking for something around .311 when you're done. They'll never lock on. So, measure the shank and then choose your GC material thickness. I can tell you a common commercially available 30 caliber gas check is going to be .014 or thicker.
