    Second cast ever

Results of my second casting session ever. This is presort, so you can see some of the wrinkles, rounded corners and smeared sprue's.

It coming! I just need to figure out how to get a nice consistent fill without the lead shooting back out the top. Is it technique, or do I adjust the threaded stop on the spout?

I have a Lee Production Pot.

Adjust your pour pressure. Darn few of those boolits I wouldn't shoot.
Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.

Yes, on the Pro 4-20 pot, you can adjust the flow. Not on a Production Pot 10#. I like just a very little "rooster tail".

They look great for your 2nd casting session. Good job!
I ladle pour into mostly 2 cavity molds. I wear quite thick, but manageable leather gloves. No tapper, and when I open the sprue plate I let the boolits fall into my palm, give them the once over and the culls go right back into the pot. Works for me and I very seldom find a bad one when running through the sizer.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to keep after it. See if I can't get the flow cut back some. I have the 20 pound pot.

Even with rounded bases those should shoot. If there are winlles from the base to the lube groove allowing gas to get to the lube, throw those back. Great job and keep it up! My spout on my lee pot pours super fast. I only open it half way.

you can adjust the screw on the rod that lets the alloy out of the spout.
or just bend a piece of wire around the rod the c shaped piece on the top/bottom of the pot slides up and down on to keep it from lifting up all the way. [bottom rod]

I have the 10lb Lee bottom drop pot. What helps me more than anything, besides blocking it up so the sprue plate is about 1/4 inch to the spout, is I have my PID immediately to the right of my pot (or you can use any other item or appropriate size and height) that allows you to rest the palm of your right hand on it so you have precise finger and wrist control (better feel) opening the valve instead of using your unsupported arm to list the valve, where you have practically no feel.
