ID:	184184Have looked at a RCBS A-2 press, looks all complete, has 2 primer arms but not the feed that goes on top of press to hold primer tubes, will the one from a rock chucker work? What is the going $ on these presses? Happy New Year to all.

I am not sure if the primer feed from the RC will work. I would *guess* no. Going $ on these presses is somewhere between 200-275, depending on condition.

Thanks for the return, condition looks quite nice just needs a little cleaning. Am going to take off the bushing to find a date, if the person will let me that is. Seen where it has a slider handle too.

The bushing versions are at the upper end of the 200 to 275 price range and the non-bushing versions are at the bottom of that price range.

    Hi,
I think anything $300 or less you are good to go!

They are going up like everything else and RCBS does not make them any more! Ha!

The "Slider" Handle is OEM and how they were made!

Be advised, these are cast STEEL not iron and are tough like a T-34 Tank!

Admittedly one of the best single stage presses made..... EVER!

I have a 2A I use for swaging. I made a roller handle with a 3/4" longer than stock steel rod. You will not break this press. Word to the wise, don't use the stock slotted ram for core seating/squirting, you will collapse it (been there done that).
This is easily my strongest press and if I ever have to give any of my presses up it will be the last to go. This is including dillons, coax, c-h, Hollywood seniors (tall and short) and Lyman's.
    Now that's saying something.

Just posted a picture, such as it is. We'll have no problem with the slotted ram as our swaging is all but done and over.
Thanks for the replies-----Oh yes, we did end up bringing it home with us, mounted is tempory.

    200$? seriously.
i was thinking more like 75$ at the high end.

maybe i shouldn't have converted my .998 ram one into a swaging press and kept the .994 in the box.
i could have sold them for enough money to have just bought bullets.

Dave, there is no date on that one. RCBS began stamping dates in 1966. The bushing models were made prior to that. The non-buching models came later and can have a date. They are also cast iron and the upper frame has a different shape. Still a great press though and at today's prices are a real bargin.
I just went downstairs and tried a RC primer feed, it fits.

RCBS A2's are nice old presses and plenty stout. Watch eBay for them. They appear there often. They don't seem to fetch the high end of the range as often as they once did.

Bullets maker really like them, but have to make a modified ram.

If the A2 was steel, was the A model also steel?

The pre A, A, 2A and first model (with bushing) A2 are cast steel. 2nd model A2 (w/out bushing) and A3 along with the RC are cast iron.

When, I started reloading, the A2 was the nee plus ultra of single stage presses. I could not afford one as they cost double of a good Pacific Super C. It was much later that I bought an early A2, and I have been delighted with it.

Congratulation on having one of the finest presses ever made.

Are all top line, single stage presses, and will always go up in value, as long as there is reloading to be done!

Looks like our A2s and Big Max presses keep appreciating.
Thanks for getting me on board before the prices went crazy.
