    T/C Contender Value

Guys I've decided to sell my Contender and have no idea as to the value. I intend to list it in the "swappin & sellin" forum and would like some input on its worth. It is a second generation frame with a 14 inch .22 match bull barrel. It is fitted with decelerator type grip ( not sure if it is a Pachmyer but believe it is). The scope is a Nikon that does'nt have the power listed but it is probably a 1.5 or 2. the metal and bore is perfect and I would say the wood is a 9.5 out of a 10. what say ye?Click image for larger version.

I sold three of these guns (different calibers) two or three years ago and sat on them for a while before getting around three-fifty for them without scopes. Hope you do better, but that's what they actually sold for. I'd guess you're probably looking at around four hundred with scope. Since they quit making them they aren't worth as much as before. Service and parts can be an issue. I'm not sure how S&W is handling these....if at all. So much for lifetime warranties.

They are currently making new ones. I bought a frame last month for $299. [G2] I would be all over a scoped contender for $400, many on Gunbroker go for $450-$550 but 14" 22 lr is a slow moving combination.

You have a pre-easy open frame. Frames are running $250 to $350.
    14" 22 Match barrel runs around $200.
    Nikon scope at $50.

$350 is a good price for a complete Contender. I'm paying close to $450 for complete ones. Although I've seen people pay more.

Parts are an issue for the pre-easy open versions. Best wishes.

That grip is the standard T/C offering, not Pachy. If you part it out you should be able to get $250 for the bare frame and at least $150 for the barrel, perhaps more. The grip and forend are worth $50 and the scope about the same or a little more. I don't think $500 is too much to ask for the package, to start out.

If you have the iron sights for the barrel, make sure you advertise it where silhouette shooters can see it. The 14" 22 used to be one of the best unlimited small bore set ups for competition.
