    Minor Lead Haul

I was at a sportsman's auction a few weeks ago and tossed out a starter bid on a tub of canvas "duck butts" with weights.

No one else bid on them so I won the lot for $10.00

When I got home I went through the tub and, in addition to a dozen duck butts, I found 23 1/2 lbs of lead anchors. The longer ones are soft enough to bend of their own weight when swung sideways. The ring style anchors seem just as soft. I'm guessing they are pure or near pure lead.

    Not a bad haul.

Any score, small or large, is a good score. Good eye, spotting that at an auction.

Actually, I didn't spot the weights at the auction. My wife and I are friends with the family that runs the auction house. I made a starter bid to generate some interest, except their wasn't any other interest. It wasn't till I got the tub home that I realized the weights were lead.

If I hadn't made my bid, the item would have been pulled from the auction until another time.

    Good luck all around.
