Need a new mold for 30/31 milsurp

I'm in the market for a 200ish flat nose mold for worn and or long throated Mosin's, 03's, 303 etc. I was looking at Accurate's 31-200J, and wanted any feedback if anyone has this mold. Also if you have another suggestion, that would be welcome also. This bullet will be for shooting steel and hunting. My 314299 throws at .3125 and I need a little more on the nose and drive bands. Tom has the 314299 oversize clones with flat noses but thought the taper nose on the 200J might might fit more rifles.
Any experience you guys have with this nose style would be most welcome.

    Thanks, Tony

I second the 316299 from NOE
Works great in all my rifles.

Wow, hard to argue with the NOE suggestion, its not the first time I've been told that. What is your as cast diameter on that mold? I have two alloy's I use one is 1.8%-tin/3%-antimony and the other is 2/4. The latter does give me a fatter boolit. Thanks for the reply's.

    316299

I've got to agree with the above members regarding the NOE 316299. It's perfect in a couple of my 31 cal surplus rifles that have a larger than a normal bore. The only issue that I see for you is that it's still a pointed design contrary to your desire for a flat maplat.

I have the XXX299 design in 311, 314 and the NOE 316 diameters. It's my favorite boolit for military bolt rifles in any of the 30 calibres.

Well I guess I'm gonna have to order two molds, what a shame. The NOE 316299 and one of the Accurate flat nose designs. I leaning toward Tom's 31-200J. His spec is .314 DB and a .303 nose straight tapered to a .24 meplat. Looks like a hard hitter for hunting purposes. He has the 299 designs with a 303/.18 noses not straight tapered, and I am thinking that nose design would be more accurate than the 200J, just hate giving up that .24 flat nose. I have printed all the bullet drawing's and I'm going to compare them to the 299's I already have. Do you guys think the difference of the .18 to .24 meplat would have any real world terminal performance difference? If not I will stick with the 299 style nose as its accuracy is already proven. I hope everyone has a safe Christmas, and gets a new mold or a new gun or primers,etc... but most of all enjoy your family.

    ABJ,

I have many Lyman .30-312 moulds and tried all in my many Russians, British .303s, .30-06s and Krags. I must say my best boolit overall has been the Lee .312-185RN sized appropriately, cast from old wheel weights and dropped into a bucket of water. I gas check, use Alox and have great results. Hope this helps.

you do know Tom will cut that mold to your specifications.
you could get a 4 cavity from him with one half of the mold at 311 and one at 315.
    or 2 different boolit types.
