    .357 baby rolling block

I just picked up a new baby rolling block tonight. It is a beauty with a round tapered barrel.
Has anybody suppressed one of these ? I'm thinking of having the barrel threaded. Any of the old timers object?

If it were my rifle, I sure wouldn't be threading the barrel.

This is a terrible idea for a Rolling Block. Terrible!!!!!!!! Excuse me, my gag reflex is kicking in.

While a threaded barrel and suppressor doesn't go with the theme of a rolling block, I think it would be a great suppressed rifle. 310 grain thumper or HP thumper in a 357 magnum case at 1000 fps would have a bunch of energy and be pretty darn quiet. Almost no extra length as well. So even with a 8 or 9 inch suppressor, it is very carry friendly. I still don't know if I'd do it, but it would be tempting.

eeegads! A can on a rolling block!? It's your rifle but if you ever decide to sell it, I would imagine the market would be quite slim on it . . . a can and a rolling block just don't seem right.

I don't sell guns, resale means nothing to me. A can on a rolling block was likely not unheard of before the NFA.

Big heavy bullet at just under the speed of sound would be a great woods cartridge.

Kind of like hitching a hoverboard to a horsedrawn cart. It might work, but it is never going to look right and you totally blow your style points gained on shooting the rolling block.

But I have to admit, it would be quiet and fun to shoot, poofft, Clang.

I have always wanted one of those.
Cannot understand why the quit making/importing them.
Didn't Lone Star make some too?

It's your gun so I have no comment on what you want to stick on the front of it!

I have a plan for a 45-70 RB, and many would not like my design for a hunting RB either.

.36navy, I have a baby rolling block carbine with a miniature red dot sight on it. I cut dovetail cuts in the barrel so there is no mount, it clamps directly on the barrel and the sight is at a perfect height for the stock.
Many would object to a battery powered sight on a RB but it suits me and that's all that counts.
If you want to thread the barrel for a can I say go a head. You could always cut it off and recrown the barrel if you wanted to sell it.

I love my suppressors... I also like classic single shot rifles... I believe the old rolling block with a suppressor would function great but would look like an abortion lol... kinda like dating a big girl, she's really nice, kind of fun but don't let your friends see you out in public with her.

A steampunk style suppressor could fit with the action.
But then it might need a brass scope...

I really don't think it looks bad when i lay the suppressor in line with the barrel. The black coating on the suppressor is fairly close in color to the bluing on the barrel.

I got to shoot it today. its got a 14" length of pull and a 22" barrel. Its a light weight, well balanced gun and i really enjoyed pinking with it..

They stopped making them because many developed headspace issues. It's a #2 action in a pretty high pressure round. Often the pins wore or even bent under firing with hot rounds. And anyone who would convert one to .357 Maximum is just entertaining even more issues with headspace problems.
If this Roller isn't loose or out of whack yet, I'd never shoot anything more than .38 Special level loads in it!

Exactly my thought. Research the look of the early Maxim cans and Jules Verne the beejeezus out of it!
