Thank you for posting this trapper9260. Very interesting. But, it's apparent he hasn't been to Alaska exploring yet.

Am curious as to why the person didn't make the trip in the winter? I grew up in the swampy AK bush and have done much outdoor travel in same; winter travel in that environment is far, /far/ easier in virtually every respect.

^^^ He wasn't going to let Bilbo Baggins show him up. (LOL) Personally I think he just wanted his 14 minutes of fame. Surprised the white sox's didn't kill him. I have been stationed at King Salmon AFS 2 times and I too couldn't figure out why he didn't do this during the winter time. Way much easier moving about.

Some people , you never know why or how they think at the time. I only post this because of for those that did not know there was a worlds biggest beaver dam.I know before this person there was no one that was know at the time that got to it.I found it interesting for the dam and how big it is.Wonder how many beavers there might be there. One place I trap this season I took 10 out and 8 of them was around the main dam.

Maybe he chose his season to see beavers. They are very interesting animals. The European beaver, a different species but very similar in appearance and habits, became too few in number for communal operations, and didn't make dams for at least several hundred years. Now that they are protected and more numerous, they have started building dams again.

I'd be real surprised if there hasn't been a trapper there in the winter on a snomobile. After the ice melted you would never know they had been there.

Wood buffalo is a national park. So no trapping allowed. I guess he he didn't do it in the winter time is because the temperature dropping down to minus 50 C.
