Ditto here ... when I was younger and shooting very competitively with handguns I spent half my life casting and reloading to keep up. Still have about 60 + moulds and keep buying more, but haven't been casting too much over the last few years. I hope to spend more time in front of my bottom pour RCBS pot in 2017 ...
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!

    I'm an intermittent dabbler.
I only tend to cast when the supply of a given bullet is running low and only for a session of an hr or so.
My concentration / enthusiasm dwindles rapidly after that.
I have no idea how many bullets I cast but it is enough to keep my shooting addiction happy.

I'm a ladle pourer out of a cast iron pot set-up on a kero stove.
I have an old lyman mould without venting and when I feel the heat of the handles through the gloves it rains beutifull bullets.
One day I may even get a thermometer when I get around to it.

After reading through this thread I now realize that I'm not even a dabbler. I suspect that some of you all cast more bullets in one sitting than I do in several years. Literally.

casting I dabble, 5 molds one pot and I only cast when it's cool or cold weather. I'm a pretty good size guy and sweat way to much for hot weather casting. I really do like my wife's chili, seriously.

I own a Ballisti-cast Mark IV and used to consider myself to be a caster. Having had considered what it really means to be a caster I have redefined the term for myself. I consider a real caster to be a man that owns a full automatic multi mold machine like the big Magma machines or the big Ballisti-cast machines that one simply adds lead to and watches with amazement as the finished bullets drop into the catch basin. Caster and the word automatic have to be used in the same sentence.

I went crazy a few years ago and got a bunch of lead, molds and equipment. Now I have a generous supply of boolits.
Only one problem, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in my liver and lung. Be starting chemo shortly.

Leadmelter - Yikes, i wish you all the best with your treatment.

Depending on who you ask, i have always been crazy i collect all the lead i can if the price is right. If i don't end up using it, i can always sell it later on.

Good luck to you. I had a section of colon removed and did the chemo several years ago. Still clear so far and as a note of encouragement the chemo really wasn't that bad. More of a pain in the rump than anything. Maybe I was lucky and hope you will be too.
