    which lube for triple 7

Alox or some other lube or SPG?
In my Winchester single shot, not a reproduction, and the Shiloh's I mostly use Swiss and bullets I cast myself.Sometimes IMR 4759 or 5744 with store bought cast.
or jacketed. I have several pounds of Triple 7 I got for my side lock percussion guns, left over from a while back when the real powder was not available locally.I may as well use it up.I have no plans to buy any more. This question is for a 45/70 Marlin 1895.

Whatever you have got. It works fine with any smokeless or BP lube I have tried it with.

Yup. It has worked with every lube I've used too. But, I will say that 777 is pretty hot and leading is the result. So, lube of some sort seems to be important.
That I could be wrong is an eventuality that has not escaped me. I just painted the pictures as I saw them. I do not know how to do anything else. (Saint Elmer, 1955)

TC Bore Butter works great with 777 and Lee REAL boolits in my NEF Huntsman. I am going to try Randy Rat's black powder lube on the next batch I cast.

Bore butter for patches . SPG or Lyman 50/50 for cartridges is what I have always used .

I fired my Huntsman some the other day before putting it up for the year. Then, it sat in the garage while I attended three different Christmas celebrations. When I went to clean the rifle I found a few tiny bits of new surface rust that could be scratched off with a fingernail. Not surprising given how much condensation there is, that could have just as easily happened with smokeless.

The Triple 7 does leave noticeable crusty deposits in the bore but they clean up super easy, much more so than Pyrodex. The first pour of hot water through the bore gets most of it out, I do scrub with a patch some and then finish with more hot water and some dry patches. Then, a coat of Bore Butter and the rifle gets put to bed 'til next time.
