    Dumb question

Hi, been reloading 38 specials about a year now. I recently bought a pistol chambered in 32-20 WCF. Do they make any dies that don't need lube? All I can find is stainless steel. Thanks for the help.....

No, 32-20 is a tapered bottle neck case and these do not work with carbide dies. I load a lot of 32-20 and lube is key because those cases are really thin. Use lube sparingly but do use it.

I believe Redding and Lee will make a carbide sizing die.

The only carbide dies for bottleneck I am aware of are Dillons for the .223 and .308.

But I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    I use 2. For rifle I use 2400 or RL7. For pistol I use 2400.

Keep in mind that the 32-20 is an old cartridge. Some of the old pistols will not handle high pressure loads.

I'm not aware of anyone offering a carbide size die for 32-20. A bit of case lube will be needed.

It will depend on how tight the chamber but I don't lube but every third or forth case once my dies have fresh lube in them. The cases are thin so they don't require much force since my dies and chamber are a good match. The taper helps the die release the case which is part of the lube function too. If you are running hot loads your cases might stretch more and need more lube.

Like Tim, I found I don't have to lube every .32-20 case when resizing. I do maybe 1 out of every 5. You have to make sure you don't use too much on these thin little things.

You might try a bushing neck sizer. I use these for .30-06 and .338 cases and do not need any lube.

same here. 3220 and 4440 cases take very little lube. As a matter of fact I can load 4440 progressively on my dillion using redding steal dies without lube for the most part. Just to be sure I give them a very quick shot of hornady one shot.
