    Need ideas-NOE 454 273 WADCUTTER 45ACP

    I've finally purchased a NOE 454 273 wadcutter to load in 45ACP for a S&W revolver.
None of my manuals show a bullet that heavy in a case that short.
Does anyone have an experience with this boolit?
I'd like to use AA #5 since that's what is usually in my Dillon powder measure.
    Thx in advance

I run 6.0g Unique. I hate the fact that it meters terribly, but it does shoot well. The cross reference to that for AA#5 will be a max between 7.0-7.4g I would start at 6.0 and work up from there. Great mold, but damn hard to keep the pins hot enough for the deep HP (if you got the RG mold) you have to use a hot plate or candle.

Reed, Thx for the reply and your load. I've pretty much given up on Unique because of the metering.
My mold is a full wadcutter and I'm looking for a "pin" load. I tried 6.0 and 6.2 of AA #5 yesterday.
Recoil was still pretty stout, but no signs of pressure. Think I'll load some more 6.0gr and try them om some bowling pins. It's a shame no one shoots pins much anymore. I enjoy them!

You and I both. I assume you are also running a 625?

Yes, 625! I also have a 1917 Colt. Might download some and try in it too.
