MEC Marksman Single Stage Reloading Press for 7/8 x 14 dies

    Hey Guys,

I was surfing the MEC website and saw a single stage press 7/8 x 14. It looks cool, good for magnum rifle (416 rigby accdg to the ads) and heavy duty.

It cost about $225 and on sale at Ballistic Prod.

Have any of you bought one? Was looking for a press for my giant 500 gibbs.

    Please comment...thanks for any FB!!

Here is the web address from Ballistic

Never known about a 500 Gibbs. I know about a 505 Gibbs. There is already a thread about the MEC press. I know the CH4D Champion and Redding Ultramag would easily handle this cartridge. I'm not sure if my Hornady Iron press would as I need to check. I know my COAX and Summit will not.

I know MEC states it will handle up to 416 Rigby. It would be close. I would email MEC to make sure the top press bushing can be removed. It has to as dies can be had in 1" and 1-¼". I only know of RCBS and CH4D make dies for the 505 Gibbs. CH4D make about any diameter press top bushing a fellow could want. RCBS and Redding make them to for 1-¼" to 1".

    Take care

Sale price is $180. Looks pretty stout.

Looks like a Bonanza style product.

    MEC press video
It appears that you need the MEC hardstand to use it easily.

Did anyone ever find out if it has a removable bushing so that it can take 1-1/4-12 does or perhaps a L-n-L quick change busing?

    Yes, it does.

Now they just need to come out with their own version the positively locks the QD bushing in place and that will be more ground breaking than the press itself.

The would likely find themselves on a number of LNL's that the owners are tired of messing with thicker o-rings or shims to ESP the dies from self ejecting.

I’m not sure one needs to buy their stand. I have a stand from Inline Fabrication and I am fairly certain I can modify it to work with the MEC. LockNLoad system will be next but not for a few months. It’s a convienence factor that is not critical but nice to have at some point.

I have one, it does have a bushing and I did put a L-n-L conversion bushing in it. I also have the stand and both length levers. It's a great stand with holes where you can stash dies while you swap them out.

The only downfall of the mount is it doesn't swap out between other presses like the Inline Fab's do.

The shell holder is really its best feature. It floats so it automatically aligns. It's also the easiest to get shell holders in and out of.

All in all I like it a lot.
