Saeco Green weight VS volume ?

    Ingredients by wreight:

    2 lbs Beeswax
    2 lbs Paraffin Wax
    1lb STP Oil Treatment

I don't have a kitchen food scale handy. so how too make by melted liquid volume?

Based on what I could find using my limited skills in the art of google-fu,

Would this be a good specific gravity volume conversion????

    Ingredients by liquid volume:
    32oz. Beeswax
    40oz. Paraffin Wax
    15 oz STP Oil Treatment

Someone has to have made this and noticed what the liquid volumes were.. then again maybe it's all witchcraft

beeswax weighs the same liquid or solid.
I wouldn't add 40 oz's of paraffin, I would weigh out 2 lbs and just melt it to go with the B-wax.
and seein as how the stp comes in a 16 oz can...

ok,? I don't have a scale so was looking for melted volume measurements that equals those weights.

from what i could find online 40oz melted paraffin in a large measuring cup = 2 lbs weight
and that 32oz measurement of beeswax melted in a measuring cup = 2 lbs weight

I was kinda wanting verification that this was so

oh, and the STP that I have here is in blue 15oz bottles... hummm

maybe I'm blindly missing something? .. lol

I understand that a pint (16oz. of water) weighs a pound the whole world round, but the specific gravity of these substances isn't the same as water so that's what brings my question of weight to volume conversion.

    measuring cup = volume
    pounds = weight

I suppose I could go with:

    32oz volume Beeswax
    32oz volume Paraffin
    16oz volume STP

but all the postings I find for Saeco Green specifically state weight not volume.

And so, (sighs heavily).. without a fine kitchen scale handy. I was hoping for info on volume measurements.

    good news..

Had to dig a coat out of the closet just a moment ago and found a mystery $20 in the pocket. Heading out now to get a scale from our 24 hr. X-mart.

    thanks all

    that would work too.

I would just melt the known Bees wax and mark the cup for the paraffin.
then fill the cup halfway with the stp.
your then following the same 2-2-1 ratio.

    I was probably overthinking density.

like how one 8oz cup of lead weighs more than one 8oz cup of water.

so i figured the beeswax, paraffin, and stp would have different weights per volume.. or in this case different volumes to equal the required weights.

Anyway, brought home the scale.. also brought home enough unplanned purchases I could sink a Bass Tracker.. oh how I dread the X-mart

Going for a half batch by weight

    1lb - Beeswax
    1lb - Paraffin
    8oz - STP

Have a couple double boiler operations going right now for the Beeswax and Paraffin.

Noticed that the STP bottles said 15 FL oz. So the 8oz was weighed out on the scale too vs. just using the volume graduations on the side of the bottle.

the stp is the plasticizer for the paraffin and it adds stickiness to the lube.
between the stp and the paraffin, it's like adding stiff Vaseline to the beeswax only with a couple more ingredients like zddp and paratack.

    ok, final

    Per my Pyrex measure:

    Weight.............................Volume
1lb - Beeswax melted out to 600ml on the low side of the line
1lb - Paraffin melted out to 600ml on the high side of the line
8oz - STP melted out to 300ml on the money

This half batch made nine 4inch sticks for the lubesizer (3 with holes, 6 solid) and still left me a Pyrex 4 cup measuring cup full almost to the brim (ran out of stick molds).
I'll save that for next need. Probably just heat and poor fill, but sometimes you need a refill right now so sticks can be handy to have on hand.

So now we know the volume method holds true to the 2-2-1, same as the 2-2-1 weight method, and the rest of you can save a scale purchase.. lol

It was much ado about nothing, but it was a common question on some threads (elsewhere). Almost as often as folks asked if it was a misprint for the 1lb of STP (it's not a misprint)

Note: when i say high and low sides I'm talking the thickness of the red indicator line on the Pyrex. So its almost nothing.
