    PC'd 185g in .358 Win

So I took a sadly abused Lee single cavity and set it up in the lathe to try to give it a breath of new life.

Some dumb sheet [NOT ME!] tried to drill out the gas check shank.

Bullets turn out .357'ish and powder coat up to .360 easy.
    Weigh in right on 185g
Neck turned brass made from mil '06.
12.5g of Unique and away we go!

First group at 25 was great. Opened up bad at 50. Wind was sharp this morning and I wasn't wearing enough clothes. Lame *** excuse but truth nonetheless. No doubt this will shoot better than the 50 yard group.

Shot 50 in total and I think the bore is cleaner than before I started. LOL!

They came out a little rough IMO, but it beats throwing the mold away and for shooting paper and rocks and junk, they'll suffice.
Proof's in the puddin' as they say and they show potential. I'm going to move up on the Unique a bit and see what happens then I will likely switch to 5744 and mash on the throttle a little bit.

Is the PC on the boolit abrasive or oily? Or is it just like copper jacketed as some others are saying?
Just a question because I am interested in doing it for my rifles.

It's pretty slick. Certainly NOT abrasive. Compared to a traditional cast/lubed bullet....you can really drive the snot outta these.

very curious...did you cut a "cherry" and more or less chamber ream or did you just set up a small I d inside reamer and cut a straight shank leaving the old nose intact.

    Neither.
Set up in the four jaw on the lathe and used a ball end mill to form a nose and then bored it to size with a boring bar.

Happened upon another abused Lee single and tried this again. This time I wanted a 147g bullet for my suppressed 9mm carbine.
It came out 145.5g with ACWW's. Close enough.

I faced off the mold to shorten it, then used a router bit I had, ground undersize and plunge cut. I had every intention of using a tiny boring bar to bring it on size but the stars aligned and the cutter ended up making the bullet slightly tapered. It's .355 at the top where the angle starts and .361 at the base. Dunno how that happened!!!! It slides through a .357 push through sizer like butter!

I haven't calculated actual seating depth but eyeballin' it, the depth is less than my 356402. That's GREAT because the 9mm is VERY picky about seating depth.

At an OAL of 1.095....good news and bad news. It hammers the rifling on my Glock Lone wolf barrel. Damn! BUT, these are not FOR the Glocks, they are strictly for my new Mech-Tech Carbine and they just kiss the rifling, but do not engage it, making extraction easy peasy.

Now to powder coat some of these goofy looking things and see what happens!
I still need to address the flashing I am getting at the nose. Must be a small burr I missed.

I'm betting they would work well in a 38/357
The RN I did at the top of this thread do very well in a .38 special.
