I see from a posting in THe Pit that Montana Charlie has died. I did not know him personally but thru his postings. While we disagreed on certain topics I found him to be well informed and helpful. I only exchanged private messages on one topic but he was very helpful. We are lessened by his passing.

It is hard to explain how much the passing of Charlie saddens me. He was a mainstay of the forum. A man passionate about his country, his shooting, and politics. A man who really didn't tolerate stupidity well, but welcomed the opportunity to help in dispelling ignorance.
I joined this forum when I was 26 years old. I am now 32. Charlie was a major mentor to me in those years, and I deeply regret never telling him that. His posts, steadfast devotion to his principles, and willingness to understand and educate others were great traits of his.
Charlie was also a man who had seen the elephant, but was humble about it. I respected that as well.
Rest easy old warrior, and I hope the big range in the sky is set up how you like it.
Just learned of his passing. Felt like a gut punch. Rest in peace Montana Charlie.
