    Gas check questions

    1) What are Gator Gas checks? Is that a brand name?
    2) I've read where aluminum was bad for bores. I've read where you should have steel or coated cleaning rods because of this. But aluminum gas checks are okay?
    3) I have a MiHec 359-125 PB 9mm bullet mould. But I understand I can put PB gas checks on these. Anything I should know before I try.
    4) Any advantage to copper gas checks?

    Thanks for the help.

Gator Checks is a brand name. Aluminum being bad for bores relates to the supposed issue related to aluminum oxide. This is not an issue with aluminum checks. We are talking about literal microns of aluminum oxide. Not the large pieces found in sandpaper. When it comes to aluminum vs copper the only major differences are weight and appearance. Copper checks will add some weight to your bullet vs Aluminum. My suggestion would be to get samples of each and try to see what your bullets like.

@ OP, I have tried the checks you are speaking of on some PB bullets for my 357mag, they are superb and outperformed the "pop can" checks for the simple reason they stayed on without any fiddly contortions required. While the "pop can" checks may work well for some, I think Sage uses a little heavier material which seems to crimp on better.

UPDATE: Just wanted to say Sage is a man of his word. Got the GCs in the mail yesterday. They look great. Need some time to play with them. Hopefully soon.
