Can you tell from the pictures if this is really pewter?

This is a local ad and I have not found any pewter to date.

    http://wenatchee.craigslist.org/hsh/5826846223.html

Just wondering if these items look like stuff made of pewter and if it is worth pursuing.

    Thanks

Yep. Go take a look at it, if you are looking for tin. Look for a "hallmark."

I see a lot of EP silver.

The dish is about the only thing that looks like pewter to me

Local ad so go and look, bottom of each piece should say pewter someplace. Or EPBM might be stamped, or Zinn or Tinn. I would suspect the birds and salt & pepper shaker are not. The bowl looks like a chance, maybe the vases or at least a couple of them. Go by weight of items with pewter/zinn/tinn stamped, if it hits 7 lbs. for $20 you are doing good. At 5 lbs. it gets a bit less of a good deal. At 2 lbs. you could buy it in swapping and selling forum here for less.

Still $20 is not a big amount to spend if you get a batch of pewter you can use. Even 2 lbs. will make 75 lbs. of COWW's into a very nice alloy. Or a slightly smaller batch into might tough hunting bullets.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

I would put money on 7 of the 11 pieces being pewter. The birds and a few vases might not be, the rest most likely is.

My guess is that most of it is pewter. The birds are questionable. Most silver plate that I've seen if it has not been recently polished, will have an uneven sheen with bright areas and tarnished areas.

The birds have some weird flaking / discoloration going on. I wouldn't bet a dime on those. Everything else looks right. I'd expect the salt and pepper to have glass inside.
