Ruger 77/44
7TCU 135gr Thore bullet
I'm in lower Michigan in a limited firearm zone, so any cartridge rifle has to be .35" or larger with a straight wall between 1.2-1.8" long. Built a ar10 pattern rifle in 44x1.8" based off of 30-06 brass that I plan on using. It can match 444 marlin loads if run at higher pressure. Used a 1891 Mauser in it last year only loaded to 35K psi. Year before that was a ar15 in 357AR (357Maximum rimless run at 60K Psi) which is what my son and daughter will be using. Got a couple 44x1.6" (like a rimless 445 Super Mag only rimless and based off of 30-06 brass) barrels that are finished and need tested out also. Also need to load up some 1.8" case length 444 marlins so I can take that out as well with 310gr cast Lee loads. Here's a pic of the ar15 with a 44x1.6" SS barrel and the ar15 in 44x1.8, the tan 357max rimless, and 1891 mauser in 44x1.8. No pics of the marlin, but it's a standard pre safety with a redfield sight on it.

Marlin 336A, 30-30 with a 165 grain boolit over 26gns. of H335.
Carried 357, 375H&H & 45/70 with NOE HP at various times but every time a shot offered I had the 240wby in my hands. Very impressed with its performance on 600lb+ animals.
Howa 1500 rebarrelled to .257 Roberts with 38.5 grains H4350/117 grain Sierra Pro Hunter
Marlin 336 Texan and Glenfield 30 (both .30 WCF) with 30 grains IMR 4064/ 150 grain Sierra Pro Hunter
NEF Huntsman .50 with 70 grains Triple 7/Lee 250 grain REAL cast
Someday I'll add a bow and crossbow to the arsenal.
Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.
I will be using a TC Encore in 6.5 Grendel with a Dead Air Sandman Ti suppressor.
Good luck moleman! Kids will be using 357 max, 45/70 short. I'll use my rifled Marlin .410. D
1949 336 Marlin or 44 Mag Super Red hawk, using 310 grain lead bullet going so fast and hard the shock will kill 2-3 deer, you don't have to aim.
I have lots of rifles just can't use them in my area for deer. Marlin 512 Slugmaster 12ga rifled shotgun, shotgun only here. It's about as close to a rifle as you can get, uses a 300gr S&W 500 Hornady SST bullet in a sabot at 2,000 fps. 200yd point blank range.

I think I have decided on my 788 in 308...maybe.
I've been hauling around my 24" Rossi 92 in .45 Colt (sucker gets HEAVY!), but I may have to try a different property that'll require longer shots, so I'm going to toss the 700 .30-06 in the truck next weekend for a backup. The .45 has plenty of punch, but the '06 has far more reach and a flatter trajectory. Really wanted to take a deer with the .45 though.......

for the first time ever the 30-06.
for the last few years it has been the 25-06 but I have one dialed in for longer range shots on rock chucks, and the other one I took the scope off and gave it to the SIL when his went junk.
avoid the shoulder unless your mad at it.
pietro.
that's a fine choice.
I have one just like that only it's been Ackley'd.
the oldest girl decided it was just fine for deer and such and hid it somewhere.
