Time to straighten up the safe.

Funny how things have changed. For years people basically displayed them either hanging on racks or in a wooden, glass fronted case, more or less a piece of furniture, now we can't sleep well unless they are locked in a metal, fireproof safe.

I reckon the dangers of them being stolen have gone up, mainly because the population has gone up and the percentage of thieves has not gone down, but the chances of fire has probably not gone up, at least noticibly.
I can honestly say I doubt if I have ever missed a minutes sleep over the possibility of either one though.

I remember those days. When I was a kid my grandfather had a nice display cabinet full of old rifles and shotguns which were eventually stolen and pawned by my crackhead uncle. Come to think of it my father in law still has one of those but after a break-in about 10 years ago he doesn't store anything it it anymore.

What a mess. Not enough room in there, everything is just jammed in.

So, this morning I took out all the long guns, and, in an orderly fashion, re-loaded that section. Less used ones to the back, more used up front. Everything looks much better.

And, I gained enough room to put in 2 recent acquisitions - a 357Mag Handi-rifle, and a 44Mag CVA Hunter.

At some point, I'm going to have to stop purchasing more. Some time soon.
