About to join this addiction. Have a few questions.

I am going to start casting soon, and I'm in the process of selecting equipment. I'm a little stumped on the lubing portion and what kind of melt pot I should be looking at. I thought I'd come to this forum to ask about the lubing.

For the lubing, I'm trying to decide between powder coating and tumble lubing. I understand some of the issue with powder coating, mainly handling the boolits with tweezers being something of an annoyance.

Tumble lubing with Lee Alox is known to be messy, but I've been looking at this stuff as an alternative: http://lsstuff.com/store/index.php?m...products_id=47. Found this after reading a forum post here about 45/45/10.

Two questions on lubing. 1) Between tumble lubing and powder coating, which is usually the least hassle? 2) If tumble lubing with 45/45/10, once I run lubed boolits through a sizer, do I have to relube them afterwards?

Yes I Lube, then size, then lube again.
IMHO, This is the easiest and the fastest way to lube boolits.

Are you using the Lee sizer dies? Seems like an inexpensive way to get started if they work.

NOE makes a nice bushing sizer set that I would look at real hard if I were just getting started.
you can get them in about any size you want and not the size LEE decides to offer.
this comes in super handy for older rifles/pistols that want something other than 358 or 286.

anyway the 45/45 lube is fast and works well on regular ol cast loads.
a hair dryer is handy to have around for heating things up.
    and less is more.

Also with the Lee dies you may have to hone them a bit. I only have two which are dead on, but I have heard of undersize ones. Fortunately, I have never heard of oversize ones, much easier to make them bigger than smaller.

I'm unsure why anyone would use tweezers or hemostats for pc. That would take forever. I switched to pc a couple years ago using ASBBDT in a RCBS tumbler processing hundreds at a time. Handle using neoprene gloves. Just dust the finger tips first and then pick, place on silicone mat, and bake.

The benefit for me is less smoke for the rare occasion I shoot indoor, less gunk in my dies, they work with my bullet feeder dies just like jackets, and I can shoot them at jacketed velocities.

It looks to be more complex than powder coating.
