    Make a power trimmer

Has anybody made a press mounted trimmer? Something like the Dillon. I want to try to make something where I can use my Forster 3 in 1 trimming heads and can just size brass and trim them on my progressive. Any suggestions?

If I had lots of brass to trim, I would rig up something to fit a small cheap drill press that I have. You would need a way to keep the brass from spinning and an adjustable stop on the press. Use calipers to check the overall length of the brass.

I would suggest something robust like the Giraud Tool's trimmer or the Little Crow Gunworks tool. I have the Giraud trimmer and I absolutely love it. It trims to length and deburrs both inside and out all with one operation. Yes, both are a little pricy but they are built well and the results cannot be argued.

I already have the Forster setup for a drill press but it still takes too long. I have about 4000 .223 brass to trim

For 223 I use the Little Crow Gunworks tool. It is fast but does not deburr. For all others I use the Lee Deluxe power Quick trim.

I'm switching over and I plan on starting to use a RCBS small base X die. Before using it, I'll have to trim each case 0.02" below max. This is just gonna be a PITA, but I have to switch to a small base die and figured I'd give the X die a go. My 223 AR's are set up with match chambers, adjustable gas blocks, lightweight BCG's, lightweight spring, and ultra lightweight buffer. It shoots like a 22, but about 1/4 of the brass sized by my Forster dies don't just drop in the chamber and I don't have enough mass to force it in. New brass do and small base sized brass do so I have to switch. And brass prep is my most hated part of reloading so I'm looking for the easiest solution. Easiest on the budget and easiest/quickest to get the job done.

I have a couple of the Dillon's. I have sized/deprimed and trimmed up to 1800/hr with one but generally fall somewhere between 1200-1500/hr.

I have the Frankford arsenal and like it although it is not press mounted it has 3 accessorie stations to debure inside and outside of case neck and remove a primer crimp

I've got a Polish Power Trimmer.

I took the handle off my RCBS case trimmer and chucked a 1/2" cordless drill on it. Along with RCBS' 3 way cutter head, it makes for fast work.

The little 9" South Bend lathe in the garage sees use as a chamfer, deburr, and primer pocket reamer station. When I get my Bridgeport, I'm planning on setting up the 3 way cutter in a collet and a shell holder in the vise. Adjust the quill stop for the appropriate case length, and I'm off to the races.

No reason to find an old thread to post the device you made. You should start a new thread just for it and post more photos and details, maybe even a video.

For 223 I too would suggest the WFT from Little Crow Gun Works. Especially if mounted in a small drill press. Can be used from a light weight cordless drill too, but I think it would be easier for most people on a drill press. It is an extra step but the Lee Quick Trim adjusted to just kiss the trimmed brass for a couple of quick turns to chamfer / de-burr the brass after it is trimmed might yield a good results for not a lot of cash or time investment.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.
