    Marlin Camp 9 boolets

My camp 9 likes 115gr. It will not shoot with 124gr.
I'd like to try a Lee 120gr TC boolet.
I was wondering if the extra 5gr would make it as bad as the 124gr????

I'm also planing to use the same mold for my other 9mm pistols.
Lugar, P38, Star Md. B, and Star Md. BS, and some others.
    Also in some 380 pistols.
    HSC, PPKs, and some others.

Does anyone make a 115gr TC type mould????
    All I've found is 120gr.

Mine likes the heck out of the Lee 120g but it hates them naked. Mine will only tolerate them powder coated. Accuracy falls to the toilet after two magazines worth if i tumble lube or traditional lube them. Mine fall .357 and I shoot them as cast, sized to .357 after powder coat and they group under 3 inches at 50 yards all day long.

Accurate molds has them from 90 on up, including a smooth side tc I have been eyeing for my 380.

if I remember correctly, didn't Marlin use their "microgroove" rifling technology on these? I was thinking that the small shallow rifling wasn't very conducive to working well with cast bullets. But jacketed bullets would not be a problem. My best friend has the 9mm Camp carbine and I had the .45 ACP version. But we both only fired jacketed bullet ammo in them though.

135 Ranch Dog cast from range scrap, water dropped and gas checked. 5.3 gr Power Pistol, ~1320 fps, will shoot .5" groups at 50. Most accurate bullet I have seen in this rifle and i have tried 15 or 20.

Lee 95-rf 4% Sb powder coated with 7.1 Power Pistol is good for 2.5" at 50. 1700fps and hits HARD up close. Not even max load. Still penetrates deeper than hollow points. At 200 yards this load is still hitting harder than a 380 pocket pistol or 38 snubby. This is my duplication of the Underwood Xtreme Defender. Check out this entire video, but especially where he shoots the light bullet from the rifle into the gel. https://youtu.be/ClJcJ8LQFbQ?t=1462

It shot bhn 9 powder coated 158- rf around 10-14" groups the same day! No typo. Charges from 3.1-4.2 of PP. I will try again with harder lead and hope for 1-3" at 50yards. 160grains at 1050 fps would be awesome for my future suppressor.

    All bullets sized .3568

For jacketed bullets, I like the 147 XTP and the 357 Sig Gold Dot. The 147 is your best bet for long range use. With a boat tail and .22 BC, it is more aerodynamic than your average 30-30 bullet. Started at 1230 fps, it still hits harder than a 3" pocket pistol at 200 yards. Basically as far as you can lob it in, it will mushroom like it should. And up close it works good, retaining about 130 grains and penetrating 5 milk jugs.

The 357 Sig Gold Dot is good because it is designed for adequate penetration at higher impact velocities. It also expands great down to 1050 fps, giving a useful range of 140 yards out of the rifle when started at 1450 fps. The 124 9mm gold dot acts like a meteor and expands huge, but underpenetrates at 1450 fps muzzle velocity.

I have the Camp45, which is MicroGroove and I shoot cast exclusively in it.
You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

135gr. ranch dog over 4.8gr. of 3n37 puts mine at 1100 fps. This has been my only load for the Camp 9, It gives good accuracy and has killed everything I shot with it DRT. I would not push my rifle any harder than this load. The design is not heavy duty.

The 135 grain Ranch Dog takes full advantage of the potential of the 9mm
    It is beautiful thing.

If micro groved id be casting HARD and trying them at the biggest size that will chamber reliably.

I thought the camp rifles were all micro groove.

Stay away from aluminum cased ammunition for sure.

    Jmorris,
I'm curios as to what the issue is with aluminum case ammo and the camp rifle?

In my camp 9 they shear off about half way up the case and leave the front half in the chamber.

I don't know but i learned real quick not to use them. Mine shears the case in half and leaves the front half of the case in the chamber like a sleeve.
